Entrepreneur B. Smith Dies of Alzheimer’s

Smith, who grew to fame first as one of the first black supermodels before transitioning to a new career as a fashion guru, passed away from complications of Alzheimer’s last week. Smith was only 70 when she passed.

She was diagnosed with the disease in 2013, and spent years as an advocate for Alzheimer’s patients, particularly in African-American communities. Before her diagnosis, she was known as the “black Martha Stewart” with a career that included creating numerous fashion & homeware lines, penning several cookbooks, and starring in multiple home-centric TV shows.
